#Bodygoals-Check yourself before you wreck yourself.

I hopped in the Mighty Soul community today to talk a little about what I went through with my body dysmorphia and binge eating disorder, and what I now realize the driving force behind my body goal making decision was.

It wasn't that I wanted to be healthier.

It was that I wanted to look good... because at the time I had experienced a lot of rejection for my personality, and I thought the only way people would accept me was if I looked like someone worthy of having a conversation with.

How to start loving food, your body, and your life in 2019

I’m really coming into this “other side” of my journey of taking my power back from food and learning to love my body, and I have to say it’s a completely different world over here.

I never thought I would see a day where my mind wasn’t cluttered with overwhelming thoughts of food or how my body looked to other people. I just thought that it was normal-that it was the way I was supposed to behave around this stuff-that being healthy meant a constant journey of weight loss- and that life was meant to be lived day in and day out working to achieve some perfect aesthetic before I was allowed to experience happiness, love, confidence, and fulfillment.

Dieting is the new comfort zone in our search for a happy and healthy lifestyle

I’m sure you’ve heard the term “Nothing changes if nothing changes”

Not all action we take to reach a goal actually helps us get any closer to where we want to be. A lot of times we will work very hard at trying to reach a place we haven’t been able to reach yet by doing the same things that don’t work over and over again, because it’s safe.

And we wonder why we never get anywhere.

Dieting is one of these safety zones. And it’s a waste of time.

The truth about self-love and body acceptance

We have been taught that focusing on our bodies will fix everything in our lives. That having the “perfect” figure will lead us to total overall health and happiness. But this is so misinformed. It is impossible to achieve and sustain a healthy physical body if our mind and emotions aren’t at ease, and it’s difficult to achieve this without having faith in some kind of higher power.

Food Freedom, Body Peace, & Confidence- You Need to Go Backwards Before You Have Any Chance of Moving Forwards

It’s a rebellion, really.

I run this free Facebook community that I created to support and help guide women (probably much like yourself if you are reading this) in their journey’s towards authentic health, food freedom, and body peace..and one of the questions I ask upon entrance is something like “how would you expect to FEEL once you have a better relationship with food and your body?”

And guess what the two answers I receive the most often are?

How my perspective on the body positive movement has changed since I stopped chasing the goal of weight loss

I was thinking about the whole body positive movement again today..and I wonder how many people have come across my website or social media accounts and were immediately annoyed by my message.

Or more specifically, turned off by the fact that I am someone that is preaching it.

Is the #bodypositive movement intimidating you?

I posted a quick blurb on my Instagram and one on my Facebook account this morning that were related to the body positive movement and how loving your body doesn’t necessarily have to mean posing half naked on social media to prove it.

I’ve already gotten quite a bit of engagement (positive and negative) on this message so I decided to take it to the blogs.
