The belief that you have control over what your body looks like is exactly what is keeping you stuck

“Anything less than a contemplative perspective on life is an almost certain program for unhappiness”

My mom and I talk about this all the time. I'll never understand how people get through life without believing in some kind of higher power. And I don't mean God necessarily. I mean ANYTHING. You don't have to believe in God to have belief that some kind of transcendental power exists beyond the limits of science. Even the most learned minds in neuroscience and neuropsychology believe in such a relationship.

Its about practicing spirituality, and whether we like it or not, it is a FACT that we are spiritual beings.

In our culture, we are taught that we are supposed to have control over everything, including the size and shape of our bodies. Well, guess what? This is one of the BIGGEST LIES that we have been told. It is a toxic societal belief that was created to play on our natural need for love and acceptance by making us believe we should always be searching for a solution to who we are as people. We are methodically manipulated to think we are in control of something we aren’t, and sold a solution that only works if we have enough “willpower”

Which (unknowingly) none of us do, because it doesn’t exist in that space…so we learn to feel weak and powerless, and continue to try harder for something that will never come into fruition.

If we want to truly experience happiness and health, we must learn that the answers don’t lie in the words of other people. Despite what “they” say, we are not broken. We can learn from the wisdom of others, but when it comes to implementing that knowledge into our own lives we have to pay attention to how or if it works for us. This happens by practicing learning to trust OURSELVES. The final say is between us and our source guide, no one else. When we learn to work in that space, we will start to understand that the changes we decide to make aren’t because we need to be fixed, but because we need to grow more into the people we already are.

That internal guide, that source of spiritual knowledge that exists within us, it is always working to help us reach our highest potential and true fulfillment.

Again, despite what we are taught, we are not in control of biology, and therefore unless we are spending our entire lives working against it, we never know at any given time what weight or shape our physical bodies are actually supposed to hold. What we ARE in control of is the decisions we make, and how we react to the things that happen to us. That’s it, but that in itself is a hard thing to do! And if we are to try and reach that state of mind without believing that something out there is going to help us with what we truly can't control, we will drive ourselves nuts.

If we are to try and reach that state of mind by believing that other humans know what is best for us, when they are just as imperfect and usually just as lost as we, we will drive ourselves nuts.

So find faith in God, or Buddha, or even the bird that lands on the tree outside your window every day. It's your decision. But find SOMETHING to give your uncontrollable circumstances to. This will make letting go and truly enjoying your life SO much easier.

Take control of what you can, leave the rest to a higher power, do your best with what feels good to you, and have FAITH that everything in your life is unfolding just as it should be.
